New Jersey Sloppy Joes

Getting tired of re-heated Thanksgiving leftovers? With less people there is so much more turkey! I have been looking forward to making New Jersey Sloppy Joes. These wonderful sandwiches are keystones on menus in NYC delicatessens and more.

Why the Titanic tea? Because Thanksgiving would not be the same without the Thanksgiving Day Parade in NYC by Macy’s, which was co-founded by Titanic passengers – and inspiring heroes – Ida & Isador Straus. The parade we enjoy today would not be the same without the Straus ethics for work environment and customer service. They created the first lunch room for store workers and gave employees deep discounts on the food.

New Jersey Sloppy Joes

Use the darkest bread you can find. Marble rye is a favorite.

Layer pastrami, coleslaw and provolone or muenster cheese; followed by layers of turkey, coleslaw and cheese.

Top with Russian dressing.

The sloppier the better.

Make coleslaw the night before for the best flavors.
