Bone Broth PUPsicles

Heat Treat: Bone Broth PUPsicles
Making chicken, ribs or steaks for the 4th?
Boil down the bones to make broth for PUPsicles!
These are Violet’s favorite treat on these hot Summer days!
If you opt to make these with veggie broth, remember: no onions for dogs and go easy on the salt and other seasonings.
Bone Broth PUPsicles
6-8 chicken or beef bones
6 cups water
1 Bunch fresh herbs
1 Lemon
Pick through the bones, ensuring that any splintery bones are not included.
Pour the water into a stock pot or kettle. Over the stovetop, bring the water to a boil.
Add the bones, herbs and juice from the lemon to the water.
Bring the water to a boil, and then reduce the heat and simmer until the broth begins to thicken a bit, or approximately 20-30 minutes.
Remove from heat, and set aside to cool.
Place a large, empty kettle in the sink, and place a large, fine mesh strainer over it. Pour the broth over the strainer into the kettle. Look through carefully for anything that should be removed.
Pour the broth into the molds and set in the freezer until frozen, or at least eight hours.
