Aviation Cocktail
My beautiful, sweet Cocker Spaniel Violet will turn one year old tomorrow! She is such a precious, dear treasure and a true blessing in many ways! I wanted to celebrate her official move from that wonderous “puppy year” to full-grown dog status with a few very special foods – even though she won’t be able to eat them!
With its gorgeous purple color, the Aviation Cocktail is perfect for Halloween and a first birthday celebration for a darling little puppy named Violet!
Hugo Ensslin was the head bartender at the Hotel Wallick in New York City when he created the Aviation Cocktail. The recipe appears for the first time that we know of in his 1916 book, “Recipes for Mixed Drinks.” Talk about an epic title! Here is the recipe:

1 1/2 ounces El Bart gin
3/4 ounces lemon juice
2 dashes maraschino liqueur
2 dashes Crème de violette
